I have had a particular fabric sample in my office for years - literally. I have continued to hold onto the sample, hoping and praying that it wouldn't be discontinued, simply because I knew it was a FANTASTIC fabric that one day I hoped to have the privilege of using. I have never done a hard sell on the fabric. I knew one day it would be seen for the amazing material it is.
Well, today is the day. I finally received an order for it and while it's going on what some consider to be the lowly toss pillow, I know that it will have a HUGE impact in the room it's being made for.
The interesting thing is, the rest of the furniture and fabrics in this particular space are well, just okay. They aren't pieces that I supplied to the client (and are as such, are not the best quality), but this new fabric we're introducing to spice the room up, IS potentially one of the best quality fabrics I have ever used. It wasn't cheap. But, the good news is, because we're only putting it on a few toss pillows, the investment for the client was not huge.
So, what's my point you ask? The point is, I encourage all of my clients to invest in and use the very best materials they can afford, firstly because quality really does last and because quality often has a room-changing effect on a space.
In interior decorating, my experience is that you truly get what you pay for and if you want impact, then you need to invest in it.
